Potholing & daylighting

Small, precise test holes to visually confirm a utility's exact location and depth before horizontal directional drilling, trenching, or design. More →

Slot trenching

Narrow trenches for conduit, fiber, irrigation, or cable, dug without disturbing nearby lines. One cost guide cites typical production of about 100–300 feet per day, depending on width, depth, and soil.

Pole, sign & post holes

Clean holes for utility poles, signs, fence posts, and footings in congested rights-of-way where an auger could hit something.

Lead service line & curb stop work

Michigan's Lead and Copper Rule requires water systems to replace lead service lines. Small hydrovac "keyhole" excavations are one way to expose curb stops and verify service line material.

Pipeline & utility exposure

Exposing gas, water, or other lines for inspection, tie-ins, repair, or crossings. Pipeline operators may have their own exposure procedures.

Cleanouts

Vacuuming catch basins, sumps, manholes, valve boxes, and pits. Many hydrovac trucks double as vacuum trucks.

Winter / frozen-ground digging

Heated-water excavation for jobs that can't wait for spring.

Remote / debris-tank work

Long boom and hose reach for tight sites, landscaped areas, and spots a backhoe can't access.
